14th of March marked the beginning of my career as a fashion and design journalist for which I think that’s how it’s gonna be for the next three to five years. I’d like to give myself a chance to learn the trade before I take a leap into advertising copywriting which is fairly different and mentally challenging for a homegirl like me. I’m still not sure of my ability to cope in a corporate environment where chaos is order.
Well, everything that happens, happens for a reason (valid or not, it’s how we perceive it).
The globe never stops spinning so it kinda makes sense to my own set of theory that if mistake is what you (unintentionally) did, seconds still tick away so the only recipe to happiness is to laugh at yourself and carry on moving with your life. Just like when I’m on my multi-purpose desk, I multitask. If I get entangled with too much work until my mind is jammed up, I’d do another task dissimilar to the previous one. Whenever I need to unwind, a can of 100 plus would usually do the trick for a boost to my ever decreasing energy level (no doubt growing old has its price, but aging is naturally beautiful).
So, chill out.
Why get bothered with what there is or are on your desk? "Encore!" for music sensation Daniel Powter who popularised this phrase in his 2006 hit Bad Day: “sometimes the system goes on the blink and the whole thing turns out wrong” and coupled with mine: “time is always at your disposal nothing is impossible when you’re the boss.” Of course, I wanna be one myself but not just yet.
I’d go slow and steady with Bridal Guide (Malaysia) as their contributing creative writer and editorial assistant. It’s always a delight to see so many couples eager to get their romantic nuptials published in the magazine, which in fact, is an honour for us (the publication) because, well, what are we without our loyal readers out there. My first ever writing assignment was an advertorial write-up for a bridal house located in Penang. With only 300 word limit to sum it up, I liked doing it very much.
I wonder what struck me to becoming who I am to this day, but let me just wrap up all this crap in a mouthful of three words: Passion, Passion, Passion.
To all interested parties,
Due to the popular demand of “Your Mind is Your First Enemy” T-shirt range, we have officially run out of stock! As Chinese New Year is around the corner, our tee manufacturer has stopped taking orders for now and will resume work by the end of Feb. New stock of baby tees will arrive some time in March 2006.
At the meantime, singlets with other designs are still available for purchase.
Stay tune for more updates!
Happy CNY from JayLim Design
